It looks like the only way to get the extension data out of the old
Firefox profiles is to query some sqlite databases that are located in
`<profile_dir>/storage/default`. I found one of the important extension
directories, but querying the database just returns gibberish.

For anyone else dealing with the problem, I'm wondering if it might be
solvable by booting Ubuntu 18.04 from a thumb drive, installing the
nightly Firefox version in it, loading the profiles there, exporting any
needed data via the extension settings, and then importing it back into
the stable version after booting from the hard drive again. I'll try it
tomorrow.
