I recently installed several GTK/Gnome packages and this apparently fixed to
issue, unfortunately I did not figure out which exactly.
I reinstalled my distribution I checked that a newly installed Kubuntu Hardy
alpha system has all the components that are required to run Firefox 3 without
any issue out-of-the-box. It is interesting to note that Firefox 3 beta 2
worked on my Kubuntu Gutsy and stopped immediately after I upgraded to Hardy
Alpha 4. Therefore it seems that I myself had removed one of these GTK/Gnome
packages that are of such importance that it is trivial not to or it was
deprecated/removed/altered during the upgrade to Hardy.
Please mark this report as invalid or add to the list of dependencies
that/those package(s) (unless it is too basic and no one else could do my
mistake).
