Further to my previous comment, it isn't that I have 5 IDE *devices* since the error is too many *interfaces*. This lead me to unplug my CDROM driver from the on-board IDE port and disable it in the BIOS.
This allows all 4 of the drives attached to my IDE PCI board to be detected and my RAID5 array to work properly. So, this is definitely still an issue and I think allowing 8 IDE interfaces would be more prudent. On the other hand, IDE is going the way of the dodo and so perhaps I should switch to an SATA/PCI interface and use some IDE-SATA adaptors (though they usually attach to the drive end of the cable and take up much needed space by the drives :| ). Still, I think this issue should definitely be recognised and a decision taken one way or the other. -- [gutsy tribe 5] Fails to handle systems with too many IDE interfaces https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137619 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
