Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel
===Summary===: If you try to add a new location to the clock applet (right click the applet > preferences > Locations > Add), and you have no internet connection, the applet's dialog will sit there and block forever. You will have to kill the panel to stop it. ===Release Info===: This is using a fully up-to-date Hardy beta installed from the Ubuntu alternate CD. ===Package info===: gnome-panel & clock applet(/usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so) gnome-panel: Installed: 1:2.22.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:2.22.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:2.22.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ===What I expected to happen===: If you need to have an Internet connection, we should change the dialog to be disabled and have a message that says you need a net connection to create a new location. If you don't need a net connection, and we have cached the locations on disk, then it should just work. Since it is most likely that they will need a net connection: I made a little mockup of how we could change the dialog to reflect that: ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- clock applet hangs when adding a new location with no internet connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209385 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
