I also had an issue with this bug. Wireshark worked fine for me in Gutsy. The issues I experienced are Wireshark would freeze (turn grey) when choosing an interface. I launched it from the command line by switching to root, issuing 'su', then running Wireshark. I was able to sniff packets fine, but when I tried to save the capture, Wireshark would crash.
