Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
I was wondering if it would be possible to have the /usr/bin/firefox symlink be managed by `alternatives'. I mainly use FF2, as a bunch of web development add-ons have not been (fully) ported to FF3 and have been managing the `firefox' symlink by hand thusfar. However, each time a FF3 update is installed, the symlink is overwritten. When I then start `firefox' my FF2 profile is trashed by FF3 and I need to clean it out. I've now added a divert, which sort of fixes the issue, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who prefers to run FF2 and starts it via the CLI, so a more elegant way of managing this symlink might be nice. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- /usr/bin/firefox managed by alternatives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238734 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
