Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
Sometimes (not always) at startup the ethernet connection does not establish. Network-manager shows connected, but all the IP addresses are 0.0.0.0 (in "Verbindungsinformationen"). Network manager does not react on plug-off / plug-in of the ethernet cable, in these cases. I found no way to connect then, except of restarting the PC (sometimes 3x) until the connection works after start-up. What should happen: Every time I start the computer, it connects to the ethernet. If the ethernet cable is plugged off, network manager applet shows a "connection failed". If I plug in the cable, network manager establishes an ethernet connecion. What happens: If I start the computer, it does not connect to ethernet. If the ethernet cable is plugged off, network manager shows a "connection active", but connection is not working. If I plug in the cable, network manager does not do anything, connection is not working. Hint: Probably it has to do with the Programs that are loaded at start-up: Since I Installed xscreensaver and load it at start up, the problem appears much more often (about every second time). Before it appeared maybe once a week. My system Ubuntu 8.04: Linux system 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 4 16:35:01 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux I had the same problem in KDE in Kubuntu 7.10. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Network Connection fails although Network Manager shows connected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
