Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

1) Description: Ubuntu 7.10
Release: 7.10

2) apt-cache policy file-roller
file-roller:
  Installiert:2.20.1-0ubuntu1
  Mögliche Pakete:2.20.1-0ubuntu1
  Versions-Tabelle:
 *** 2.20.1-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy-updates/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2.20.0-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/main Packages

3) If I try to open an gzip file(test) which has no .gz file-extension I
get an error.

I would expect that File-Roller checks the file-type of test like 'file' does it
$file test
test: gzip compressed data
or
$file -i test
test: application/x-gzip
and decompresses it.

4) If I try to open an gziped File which has no .gz extension File-Roller gives
me an error message which says:
>test< konnte nicht geöffndet werden.
Archivtyp nicht unterstützt.
