If the psb drm module is to be folded into the main drm module eventually, them my patch is less intrusive to future builds, as it will eventually go away. The other patch would require a reverse patch in the future to reinstate building of the main drm module.
Realistically speaking, there are a lot of drivers that are being built that could be tuned out to save drive space but haven't been yet. A simple fix for now is to rename the /lib/modules/`uname-r`/ubuntu/media/poulsbo-drm/drm.ko to psb-drm.ko and rerunning depmod -a. This is how I worked around the issue on a live system, however without rebuilding the rootfs.img, this fix is lost on reboot for some reason.
