Hi,
I updated MIC to pull from hardy + the ubuntu-mobile hardy ppa; with
the new images I had the following issues:
1) sudo and other programs aren't happy with the generated hostname as
it's not listed in /etc/hosts; proposed fix: have a "first boot" setup
taking place the first time the system starts and generating /etc/hosts
+ /etc/hostname; perhaps we can check how the alternate installer boots
and what it generates after debootstrap. The workaround I'm using is
to change /etc/init.d/hostname.sh to not fiddle with the hostname and
I'm setting /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts manually to a value I picked.

2) X wont start as /etc/X11/X points to /bin/true instead of
/usr/bin/Xorg; workaround is to "ln -sf /usr/bin/Xorg /etc/X11/X". I
was told this was probably a known bug which is fixed in Debian.

3) I saw some "no such file" on /dev/dri and /dev/dri/card0 which I did
not get on gutsy for some reason; glxinfo reports direct rendering, so
I didn't report that. glxgears reports some 125 FPS; my laptop does >
800 FPS with the vesa driver, so I find the performances quite bad.
4) The touchscreen is completely uncalibrated. I managed to get the
calibration program to run, but the generated values don't work for me.
I think this is the result of mixing the "patch from Pepper" with the
new upstream release which fixes the same thing differently; I don't
know who the original author is, but would appreciate if he could have
a look. :)

I'm interested to discuss proposed fixes for the above bugs or whether
you consider the above issues bugs at all. :)
This means that images generated with the new MIC will be more or less
broken until we fix the issues in the relevant packages; as this is not
a direct MIC issue, I will upload it to hardy and I plan to upload a
similar MIC pulling from gutsy + ubuntu-mobile gutsy ppa in the gutsy
ppa. I'll do so as soon as I can sync my git with the upstream one.
The images of hardy will probably be quite unstable for a while.
Bye,
