Hello!

I was recently informed of the existence of this project and I was
wondering what the plans were for handwriting recognition on penabled
mobile devices (PDAs). The launchpad blueprints page suggests changes to
onBoard but I didn't see anything relating to handwriting recognition.

I'm asking because two months ago I released my project, CellWriter, a
grid-entry handwriting recognition panel under the GPL. It was developed
for use on tablet PCs but I've had users successfully run it on PDAs.
CellWriter requires per-writer training and being grid-based is not as
immediately usable as pre-trained full sentence recognition systems.
However, it does have the advantage of being able to learn users'
individual handwriting style and is able to generate any Unicode
character, letting users write in their native language.

Source and an Ubuntu/Debian package are available on my website:
http://risujin.org/cellwriter/

If you find CellWriter to be at all useful, please let me know and I'd
be happy to support it and make any changes necessary for it to
integrate with your systems.
