Java in Ubuntu is currently undergoing a transitoin from a mix of
gcj+binary sun java to mostly OpenJDK (with gcj for those
architectures not supported by OpenJDK). If your package dependencies
are correct, it should work, although this is not an area that has yet
had significant testing (most Java testing having been performed with
the browser plugins).
If it works (or doesn't), please let us know, and if it doesn't
work, please also file a bug (as it should work, although it may be
that for any given class of failure, the solution may only be for
8.10).
