@jegr The folks who already have PHP code compatible with PHP 5.6 shouldn't have any problems updating to PHP 7.0. I would worry more about the upgrade from PHP 5.3 in precise to PHP 5.5 in trusty.
If the customers could upgrade their code to PHP 5.6, they might as well jump directly to PHP 7.0.
