Hello fedsotto, thank you for taking the time to file a bug report, as it helps us make Ubuntu better!
Unfortunately, this is a temporary error suggesting that your files on disk are not matching what the package manager, dpkg, expects to find. I would suggest that you try this: sudo apt-get install php5-cli --reinstall And then when that is done sudo apt-get -f install Please *carefully* read all of the prompts and make sure you don't remove software that you don't want to. Since this is not a bug, but rather just an issue with the on disk files, I am closing this bug report as Invalid. If you have more information that may suggest otherwise, please feel free to re-open this bug report to status New, or open a new report with more details. ** Changed in: php5 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779669 Title: package php5-cli 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.1 [modified: usr/bin/php5 usr/share/man/man1/php5.1.gz] failed to install/upgrade: Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
