We are persecuted, Catholic Church says

THE Catholic Church has described the arrest of the Episcopal Vicar of Kigum Christ the King Church, Monsignor Matthew Ojara, as persecution of the Catholic Church, writes Chris Ochowun.

The Vicar General of Gulu Archdiocese, Monsignor Matthew Odong, while briefing the press in Gulu town on Wednesday, said the arrest of Ojara, who is also a member of the Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative (ARLPI), would jeopardise the efforts of the religious leaders towards peace building in the war ravaged region.

“We know Monsignor Ojara as a priest who is committed to peace and his arrest is a form of persecution to the whole church,” Odong said.
