This government has spent thousands upon thousands of manhours, and billions
upon billions of Uganda taxpayers' shillings, over the last 20+ years, on
military issues: trainings; buying arms and ammunitions; deployments of troops;
killing innocent people, and so forth, but cannot invest Uganda taxes in
building the population. For the last 20+ years over two million Ugandans waste
away manhours over manhours doing nothing in the internally displaced camps
dotting the countryside in the North and East; many died of even curable
diseases; others of hunger. If it wasn't because of foreign NGOs that have
taken it upon themselves to feed these citizens, all these Ugandans would just
be dying off and no one in Uganda government would even bother about it. May be
the only solution to this idiocy is, those in oppositions, and rebel ranks,
continue consolidating their positions; and the rebel ranks specifically begin
to seek even more training of their own
forces. For, the only language Museveni and his bunch of idiots in government
understand is the language of the guns!

100 UPDF officers leave for training
Risdel Kasasira

Kampala
The UPDF will send over 100 officers to military academies in the United
States, China, the United Kingdom and Tanzania.
The first group left on Sunday evening for China. It is headed by Col. Peter
Elwelu, the former African Union force Contingent commander in Somalia.
Army Spokesperson Paddy Ankunda said Col. Elwelu will train at the Beijing
National Defence College. “This is the highest course in the military hierarchy
and it will take him one year. But some (soldiers) will train for three
months,” Maj. Ankunda said.
He said Col. Elwelu led 26 officers and men who will train in field artillery,
field Engineering, medical, military procurement and tanks.
Maj. Ankuda said the Chinese government offered to cover the training costs on
top of giving the army 200 computers in June.
The remaining groups, Maj. Ankunda said, will train at Sand Hurst in the UK,
Tanzania’s Munduli academy and other military schools and will leave at the end
of the year.
Some of UPDF officers who have trained at Sundhurst include; President Yoweri
Museveni’s son Lt. Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Ibanda South MP, Capt. Guma
Gumisiriza, Maj. Sabiiti Mutengesa, Mr Museveni’s Chief escort Col. Wilson
Mbadi and Capt. Sam Keita.
Maj. Ankunda said the training is part of the military cooperation between
Uganda and the four countries.
Uganda and Tanzania have had long time military cooperation since 1979 when
Uganda’s first cadets were trained in Munduli.
