Yes, definitely! I love that idea.

Actually, I tried 

cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot/unattended export -Dtomorrow 
unattended && tar czvf 
/home/groups/u/un/unattended/htdocs/SNAPSHOT.tar.gz unattended && rm -
Rf unattended

The first two tries failed, then I logged out and in again, send a 
"ping" to cvs1 and tried again - and it worked.

http://unattended.sf.net/SNAPSHOT.tar.gz is the result of that try.
