as Unattended development seems to be stuck, I've tried out that new 
solution, and - hey, it works, at least for installing XP Pro! It just 
works, no hassles, no booting into Linux, it directly boots the Windows 
setup.

However, there's still one big disadvantage: Having multiple .SIF files 
(for serveral machines) is a real hassle...
