regarding the partitioning scheme, I think it is NOT possible to do so 
with the pure BINL solution, but I'm not quite sure.

Regarding software distribution, of course it is. :-) We use a service 
called "WPKG" (www.wpkg.org, it is open source). We install it via the 
cmdlines.txt-method, and upon first boot, the machine is being 
identified and software is installed. You can uninstall and upgrade 
afterwards, too.

WPKG is much more flexible when it comes to software distribution than 
Unattended itself is.
