I do not know, but it doesn't. "if exist d:\foo\bar echo hi" exits immediately. My inclination is to eliminate that line, and assume that people doing DVD-ROM installs can arrange for %Z% to be set, statically or programmatically, by c:\netinst\permcred.bat.
