I've been trying to get Unattended setup for Windows 2000 and I noticed an error. I also have a question about using Windows Update after the process finishes.
When installing the fix for KB918439, the file is downloaded to updates/win2ksp4/ie6.0sp1-kb918439-windows-2000-xp-x86-enu.exe, but the install command runs updates\winxpsp1\ie6.0sp1-kb918439-windows-2000-xp-x86-enu.exe. Second, perl.bat skips the installation of Windows Installer 3.1 on Windows 2000 since it requires SP4 to be installed first. However, win2k-updates.bat has not been updated to install version 3.1 after SP4, instead it installs version 3.0. Also, I've tried doing Unattended installs of Win2k both with and without SP4 integrated. When I ran Windows Update on the system after the integrated install finished updating, it reported that around 10 updates that had already been installed were available to download. I don't have the exact list, but I remember that Update Rollup 1 was listed. I think someone else has reported this issue on the list before, is there any known fix? It didn't happen when I installed plain Win2k and SP4 was applied as part of the update process. The last problem I had was with KB886179, an update for Windows Journal Viewer which failed with status 106. We don't have a need for Journal Viewer so I just removed this update and the Journal Viewer from the script, but I wanted to report it. Also, is there documentation anywhere on these status codes? I've seen 106, 67, and 1. I'm pretty sure 1 means file not found since it occurred on the Malicious Software Tool which I had not downloaded and the KB918439 which I mentioned above.
