FYI As I work on https://issues.jasig.org/browse/UP-4498 and its related
stories (some of which involve caching), I noticed that permissions
evaluation in uPortal seem inefficient. I'm recording my observations
in https://issues.jasig.org/browse/UP-4501. I know we want to move
toward Spring Security (and I'm delighted to say there are small steps
occurring in that direction), but in the mean time I'd like to have what
we currently use work as efficiently as reasonably possible.
I'm hoping others have experience in the uPortal permissions and groups
area and we can collaborate on ideas and possibly solutions (but not
sure if there is time for implementations right now, at least from me).
I don't know if I'll be doing anything with
https://issues.jasig.org/browse/UP-4501 in my work on UP-4498, but I'm
hoping UP-4498 will give me more insights into what strikes me as code
that is more difficult and less efficient than it could be.
If you have thoughts or insights related to UP-4501, please add them as
comments to the issue.
Thanks,
