I think you need the "the".
You might also want to include "lock cursor" so that it will not reset. If you do not use "lock cursor", the cursor will change for a very short time (so short you might not notice the change at all!). Locking the cursor will make a difference and give persistence to the object. You will need to think about cursor changes inside different objects.
