Hi Alasdair,
this is not unusual

and its driving me up the wall
mostly just trying different settings in a created material
select attribute <BOOM>
the computer is close to being chucked out the window
Windows ME
64MB NVidia Ti4200
512MB Ram

I suggest you install Windows XP. Windows ME is rather unstable.
