Slight update: The SCR plugin's content wasn't being included as I'm using the maven-jar-plugin and the maven-bundle-plugin has the goal of "manifest", so I corrected this by ading <Service-Component>OSGI-INF/serviceComponents.xml</Service-Component> to the bundle plugin's instructions.
Another issue appears to be with setting the SCR plugin's config parameter "outputDirectory" which throws a property is readonly type error if set (versions; 1.6.0 or 1.7.0, from reference; http://felix.apache.org/site/apache-felix-maven-scr-plugin-use.html) Regardless I'm still having the problems mentioned previously wrt to the classifiers.
