Hi,
the reason for removing the IP-L3-Checksum?

a) nobody needs it ;-)

We have a Layer-2-Frame-Checksum and a UDP/TCP-Checksum - the UDP-Checksum must be used for UDP/IPv6.

b) performance-improvement

Routers don't have to re-calculate the IP-Checksum after decrementing the "TTL"-Field, wich is still there but renamed...

correct?

Hi,

IPv6 contains no checksum (while IPv4 *does*).
What's the rationale behind this design decision?
