One option is to install and configure Kannel. After that sending an message is a matter of doing a http request with some variables, such as phone number, sender, text, etc.
But probably you are better off getting an account with an sms aggregator and sending the http request directly to them. This will save you from a lot of trouble. There's a lot of parties that let you do that.
