Maven 1.0.2. (Unless 1.1 is final, then we might switch. But I'm hoping to skip it and go straight to Maven 2.) > If you are running m1.1, just upgrade the artifact-plugin to at least 1.6. I've dropped back to 1.4.1 and 'maven jar:install' is now working. (The problem happens with both 1.5.1 and 1.5.2, BTW.) I can't remember what prompted me to declare a dependency on 1.5.2, but I bet it had to do with jar:deploy not wanting to work right.
