"clean verify" is not one goal, it is two phases: the "clean" phase and the "verify" phase. It seems like you eventually specified the string "clean verify" with quotes where no quotes would be allowed (or similar). Search your pom.xml for the string "clean verify" to locate the problem. hth, - martin
