I myself have had the spell check problem under OSX and the solution given by the users group resolved it. That is the only problem I have had with AOO other than a few odd quirks that, to no surprise, others also experienced. In my past I have worked with at least 5 different pieces of writing and publishing software and found that they are all similar and each has it's own set of quirks. As stated, there is no perfect software.
