I suppose if you make it a matter of personal choice, there's nothing
much left to be said. You have a right to work as you choose -- even if
you are making life much more difficult for yourself.

Most people write only a few different types of documents, and most of
these documents will only use about half a dozen different styles. It's
only a few hours' work to set up templates for your main type of
document, and no trouble at all to remember the few unique styles in
each of them, especially if you give the styles meaningful names. In
fact, if you use the Next Style field on the Organizer tab for a style,
you don't even have to remember most of them. 

In the end, this small bit of work will save you hours of time.
