I am attempting to create a merge mailing letter, to market to existing patients. The goal is to urge several of them to come in and get treated, as well as divulging their email addresses to me, so that I can save on the paper and postage and keep in touch via email.
I set up my letter, the database for the Addressees information, and then run the merge. I have several questions about how OO 2.0.3 merges and how it behaves during this process. 1) Why does it flash on the screen and essentially take over all processes? I can't work on anything else while it is merging. 2) why can't it be minimised to an icon and run in the background? 3) Why, if I have merged the letters with the data, and saved it as one large document containing all letters and all addressees, must OO re-merge the data and document, even though that has already been done? 4) Why can't I just pick up from where it was running before, and print other letters in a certain range?
