I should have looked on the issue mentioned by Kirill. :-) Issue 49238 was a particular problem in the http access of OOo2.x and it was fixed a long time ago (OOo2.0.1). The problem I was talking about is http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=59688 I thought Kirill was also talking about that one, sorry. Nevertheless that's one of the two current problems that makes OOo Writer so slow if anything containing linked graphics is loaded (from disk or from clipboard, that doesn't matter). It's already fixed now and will be part of OOo2.2. Now, as I said, we start to tackle the other problem you can see in issue 41368.
