To be specific, I think I said that pinte was used, in the Province of Quebec, for quart (Imperial). For pint (Imperial), they used chopine. That makes a chopine a demi-pinte. I think pinte and chopine were used, pre-metrication, for French liquid-container labels in the rest of Canada, too. Joe Reid should know for sure.
