UWIN has had symlinks way before they were added in Windows. It use
windows shortcuts to implement symlinks. The symlink file is a shortcut
to the actual file. The shortcuts generated by UWIN have
additional information so that it gets the UNIX path name, but
it is able to read shortcuts generated by Windows.
