Hi Denis,

Whoever you've been talking to, avoid them in the future. They're
completely, totally, apodictically ignorant. Do you suppose the design has
remained virtually unchanged for 15 years because the Japanese love high
maintenance machinery? (Just like Toyota and Lexus, those maintenance hogs.)

The Max, in stock form, is anything but a high maintenance bike. Ask the
bozo who suggested that it was high maintenance if they own a Ducati 916 (or
any other of the desmoquattro bikes). (Or far that matter, have ever SEEN
one.) Now THERE'S a high maintenance bike.

The max is extremely low maintenance, due to its generally reliable Japanese
character. It has a shaft drive, so no chain problems. The valves need to be
checked every 26 THOUSAND miles or so.

The Max requires about as much maintenance as most Japanese bikes...that is,
approximately none. Compared to ANY European bike, with the possible
exception of BMW's, it requires NO maintenance. Just change the fluids now
and then, and it's happy.

If reliability and low maintenance are your goals, a stock Max fits the bill
quite nicely.

best,
Sat Tara
