Andy at Inland RV had one, and it was around $35 plus s/h. I think the whole L-200 is about $140. So if your whole knob is in need of replacing, you can get one, too. You can also get a L-100 and put the long yoke in it, but the yoke is spring loaded and can get a little funky. Original Message************* The original lock was probably made by Carlisle, but except for the interior horizontal bar knob (probably necessary to fit the screen door opening) and the exterior bar knob its the same. The interior bar knob model is the L-200 from Bargman. Takes a long yoke to work in an Airstream door. Cost me about $16 for the yoke at an Airstream dealer a few years ago. - -- Gary Murrell [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://murrell.topcities.com > Date: Mon, 10 Feb 2003 16:25:53 -0700 > From: shemoves <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: [VACList] 1969 Globe Trotter Door Knob w/lock > > Hello Listees: > > Any suggestions where to purchase a new locking door knob online for a 1969 > Globe Trotter? Lots of places for less than $60.00. Happy Trails - Sherry '63 Bambi, WBCCI 1104, VAC, WDCU, TCT ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Feb 2003 11:31:06 -0600 From: "Dr. Gerald N. The L-100 has round knobs inside and outside. Either runs under $60 at most RV stores. Prices on line may be a little better. I paid under $15 for the long yoke at the St. Louis Airstream dealer about three years ago. Gerald J. - -- Entire content copyright Dr. Gerald N. Johnson, electrical engineer. Airstreams suggested price for that lock is $546.06 (NO KIDDING) Some dealers sell it for something less than that. The other fix, is remove the lock, take or send it to someone that has "all" the parts, and have it repaired. This is the cheapest way to do it, or, repair it yourself. But be warned, that the individual parts are not cheap, either. Also check the striker pocket, and the small "brass" shim, that's on the inside of the striker pocket. If the shim is worn, the pocket will cut a groove into the striker bolt. If you need an exploded view of the lock, call us and we can fax a copy to you. There are any number of sources for rims appropriate for your Airstream. My local Good Year retailer ordered the rims when I purchased the tires for my '64 Overlander. The critical thing is to be certain that the rim has a sufficient load carrying rating and matches the offset and other critical measurements of the original. My Good Year dealer contacted my regular Airstream dealer to get the necessary measurements for the wheels. I believe that you can find the measurements as well as the rims at Inland RVs web site at: http://www.inlandrv.com/ For safety's sake, avoid the temptation to purchase automotive or light truck rims that won't have the necessary weight carrying ability. An example of what can happen with an unknown salvage yard wheel can be seen at: http://www.inlandrv.com/articles/wheel-balancing/index.htm#junkyard-whee l The only reason that I mention the above is that I had one wheel that came with my coach of unknown origin and it had begun to show the early signs of the problems illustrated in the above page which caused me to replace all of the wheels on my coach. The records that came with the coach showed where the original owner had replaced the original split rims with new wheels and wheel covers from an Airstream dealer in 1977 - - - the second owner economized by buying used wheels and tires from a junkyard so it was impossible to tell if any of the wheels on my coach were truly safe. Good luck with your search! Kevin Kevin D.
