Keep in mind that the generated code is not intended to be optimized (that's what the C compiler is for) or human-readable. It's just intended to be easy to generate. If you're comparing the quality of the C code to handwritten C, Vala is going to lose hugely on all counts. Anyway, here are the primarily Vala projects on git.gnome.org.
