No. ARMv7 is the minimum. ARMv5/v6 is not supported by 3.8.1, and probably will not be supported for a long time. ARMv5 lacks reasonable hardware instruction support for threads. Making threads work on ARMv5 is possible, but too cumbersome. There are other things to work on that have larger payoff for the effort.
