i've dug in the mysql db, and found a vpopmail db.
(and with strace i see mysql librarys linked to the old binarys).
but in the old version there isnt a vpopmail.mysql so thats why i thoght it
was cdb.
that vmysql.h you are talking about should be in the source tree of the old
vpopmail?

Yes, it would be in the old source.
Build the new vpopmail with --enable-auth-module=mysql, then edit ~vpopmail/etc/vpopmail.mysql to use the correct username, password and database name. You might be able to strace an old binary (like vuserinfo) to find out what username and password it's using to access the database.
