Have you considered to move over to Subversion completely? Subversion really is better.
And so are many other SCMs.
And converting cvs -> subversion is not that difficult at all and you won't even loose a single release.
Which is true for many other SCMs as well. I really think all options should be considered before one is chosen to replace CVS. n.o.w.
