Hello all:

I am observing wierd problem with the motion [/, i.e. goto previous
start of
C comment motion. Please see the 'C' source pasted below as a test
case.

#include <stdlib.h>

int main() {

        char *str = "rm -rf /tmp/foo/*";
/*      this is comment */
        int position = 0;
}

When I position the cursor on the variable 'position' and execute the
[/ motion,
the cursor moves to foo/* which is actually part of a string. It should
have
moved to the beginning of the comment. I believe that the motion
ignores C
semantics and does a pure textual search to find the most proper start
of a
comment. It don't know if this is a bug or a feature. I have observed
this
behaviour with both 6.4 and the latest 7.0 versions of vim. I even
tested it
with ':set compatible', same problem. Would appreciate any suggestions
to
overcome the problem.

My vim config is described below:
