The unit pictured is exactly what I added to a IIx motherboard a few
years back when the original pigtailed PRAM battery soldered to the
board went dead.
It was a reasonably easy job, the II/IIx vintage motherboard only has
a couple of layers, so the risk of overheating another trace is
pretty small.
If you feel comfortable with a soldering iron, use a small enough
tip, and can find one of the holders, it's a 15 minute job...
I've been curious about a related part, though, and I wonder if anyone
really familiar with these machines could chime in... there is something
called a "Battery Holder Board", part no. 600-0530, and I'd love to know
exactly what that is! Does it simply plug into the logic board?
