Hi, Alan.

Just a shot in the dark here, I think it has something to do with how the keys are arranged on the soft keyboard.  If you go into settings, keyboard, and double tap a button saying "Keyboards" and then a number.  For me it says "Keyboards, 2" because I have U.S. English and Emoji.

Once you open this, you should see English U.S. by default.  Now double tap on the U.S. English and see which options are available.  The default is QWERTY.  there are other layouts, though.  Some people find it easier to type on them.  I've been with QWERTY since I started typing when I was eight.  No way I could switch to something else and I can't imagine anyone just doing it on the fly as that button implies.

Like I said, shot in the dark since it seems the option for the numbers, symbols, etc. is where it normally is.

Hi List,

Let me say right from the start that I’m running iOS 14.8 and have not upgraded to iOS 15. I’m not sure when I first noticed this on screen keyboard change but since the only thing I’ve done recently is to upgrade to iOS 14.8, I assume it is attributable to that.

My question concerns a large vertical button now appearing to the right of my on screen keyboard. It appears to be about as tall as the entire keyboard and Voiceover reads it as Switch to default layout. Other than the presence of this large button that was not previously there, my on screen keyboard seems to have the same keys and layout as before I upgraded to iOS 14.8. Is anyone familiar with this large button and which default layout it will switch to if I execute it?

Thanks in advance for your help.
