The OP is having a problem with TurboVNC, not VirtualGL.  The nVidia
driver is not relevant to the problem.  Please let me handle this.  Thanks.

I agree DRC. Its looks suspiciously like this bug
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71338 . Which causes XIO:
 fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0"
. Im posting the bug report because it will let you narrow down the
search with GDB DRC.
