ChromiVNC, or to use TightVNC which I understand fixed this
bug a long time ago.

Hmm, I might try that.

Any chance of getting the rest of Jonathan's reply? Is it still referring to encoding bugs?

Yes, it was. :-)

There's also a known bug in ChromiVNC which causes it problems when
dragging items... The workaround is to install
vncPatches68k, but I need to re-link Adrian's new site to my own.

Ummm... what new site?? I've not had time to get anything sensible together after I lost the previous one.

I'll probably just put the raw archives on my own site instead. Of course, my site needs something of an overhaul.

You are right: I do encounter this bug but it isn't related to this problem I think. will the '68k' patches also fix this on a ppc machine?

Yes, designed for use on any Mac - in fact, 68k Macs are so slow that it's barely practical to use VNC on them at all.

Right. My "68K" Mac at the time was the fastest one ever made (Quadra 840AV), on which performance was quite acceptable. On '030-based Macs, it's quite a lot less acceptable...

(BTW, Jonathan, did you get my e-mail with links to the source?)

Yup, though I haven't actually grabbed them yet. I've been busy myself, and I'm having a little trouble accessing my other machines remotely.
