I'm sorry but I'm going to bring up a problem which has been subjected to
much discussion already: VNC and SSH. I've read these previous discussions
and tried the prescriptions, but I probably missed something. Here's the
problem:

I want to run the VNC viewer on a windows PC (alice) and connect to a unix
machine (bob) running the VNC server (and the ssh daemon). Bob only
accepts encrypted connections, so I have tried to follow, among other, the
prescriptions for tunneling through SSH found on:
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/sshvnc.html as well as the specific
windows-advices from Frank Stajano:
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/sshwin.html

I've also tried several SSH clients, among them the one from Cedomir Igaly
for which Stajano gives detailed information about the settings needed.

When I specify something like:
ssh -L 5951:localhost:5901 bob
and start the viewer with
localhost:51
The following error message shows up in the VNC server logfile on bob:
24/03/03 17:20:59 Refused connection from client 127.0.0.1

I've been trying other tricks as well, with no luck, so I'm grateful if
someone comes up with an idea as to the problem.

Thanks in advance,
Vidar R. Jensen
