The seal of a licensed engineer is a requirement in many states in order to obtain a building permit. Here in GA and adjacent states, we have had a continuing education requirement for years. I must obtain a minimum of 15 professional development hours in order to maintain my license. A PE license will save your job if you work for a consulting firm or are an independent.
