Hi, friends--

This is a reminder that Vermonters for a Just Peace in Palestine/Israel is
sponsoring a talk this evening, Wednesday, November 2, by Naseer Aruri,
Chancellor Professor Emeritus of the University of Massachusetts,
Dartmouth. The talk is being held at 7 p.m., at the Wood Gallery at Vermont
College, Montpelier, in conjunction with the exhibition "Made in Palestine."

In the talk, which is free and open to the public, Dr. Aruri will discuss
"The Road to the Second Intifada: The Oslo Years and the Myth of the
'Generous' Offer."

Dr. Aruri is chancellor professor emeritus of political science at the
University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Born in Jerusalem in 1934, he
became a U.S. citizen in 1970 and has spent the majority of his life
working for peace, human rights and justice in the homeland he left more
than 40 years ago. He is author or editor of numerous books, including
_Dishonest Broker: The United States, Israel, and the Palestinians_ (South
End Press), _Palestinian Refugees: The Right of Return_ (Pluto), and
_Revising Culture, Reinventing Peace: The Influence of Edward W. Said_
(Interlink). Director of the Trans-Arab Research Institute in Boston,
Aruri has appeared on PBS' "The NewsHour," CNN's "Crossfire" and ABC News,
and has been a commentator on Pacifica Radio, the BBC, Radio Monte Carlo
and the Voice of America.

The art exhibition, "Made in Palestine," which VTJP is sponsoring, with
generous assistance from the Lintilhac Foundation and the Station Museum of
Houston, will be open at the Wood Gallery for viewing before and after the
talk ("a visually striking and politically unblinking exhibition that
should not be missed"--_Seven Days_).

We look forward to seeing you in Montpelier!

Best,
Kris
