Yes. I am new to this project; however, I have to really tell you... If you use something like silverstripe over drupal you WILL be spending MORE development time implementing features, you will HAVE less support, and YOU will NOT have the best CMS for a community / feature rich site.
Who would like a real demo of Drupal? I can do that and I think it will illustrate why it is so useful.
